Canon law (Church of England)

Canon law is like the rules that the Church of England follows. Just like you have rules at home or school, the Church has rules too. These rules help everybody know what they should be doing and what they should not be doing. The Church has been around for a very long time, so there are lots of rules to keep everything running smoothly.

Some of the rules are very important, like how the Church should treat people who need help or how to teach about God. Other rules might be about how people can become priests or bishops. There are also rules about how to celebrate special events like Christmas or Easter.

The people who make these rules are called bishops and they work together to decide what is best for the Church. They might have to change the rules sometimes if new situations come up, like if there is a new way to talk about God that they want to include in their teachings.

So, canon law is basically a set of important rules that helps the Church of England be a good place.
