Canopy (biology)

A canopy is like a big umbrella made up of leaves, branches, and sometimes flowers. It's in the tree tops and provides shade and shelter for animals and plants that live in the forest. Imagine you are playing with your friends on a hot day and suddenly it starts raining. You all run under a big tree where the leaves are so thick that no drops of rain can reach you. That's kind of like what a canopy does for the plants and animals living in the forest. It protects them from rain, sunlight, and helps to regulate the temperature. Different animals and plants live in different parts of the canopy, so it's like a whole new world up there!
