Capability management in business

Okay kiddo, so imagine you are playing with your toys at home. Each toy has its own special abilities or "capabilities" - for example, your toy car can go really fast, while your toy dinosaur can make really loud noises.

Now, in a business, the people who work there also have their own special abilities, or capabilities. They might be really good at making things, or talking to customers, or coming up with new ideas. Capability management is all about figuring out what these capabilities are, and making sure that the business has the right people in the right roles to use these capabilities in the best possible way.

It's kind of like a big puzzle - you have to figure out which people have which capabilities, and then make sure everyone is doing what they are good at. If someone is really good at making things, you don't want them answering the phone all day - you want them making things!

By managing capabilities in this way, businesses can become more efficient and effective. Everyone is working in the role that best suits their abilities, and the business as a whole is able to do things better and faster.
