ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Operating model

Have you ever played with a toy car or a doll? Just like how you have to make sure the toy car or doll is moving or doing what you want it to do, a big company also has to make sure all of its parts and people are moving in the right way to get things done. That's called the operating model.

Think of a big company like a puzzle. Each piece in the puzzle, like different teams or departments, have to work together to make sure the big picture looks good. The way the puzzle pieces fit together and work is called the operating model.

To make a good operating model, a company has to think about who is doing what and how things are getting done. They also have to think about how they can make everything work smoothly and quickly. A good operating model helps a company work like a well-oiled machine, so they can get things done fast and easily.
