Okay kiddo, so you know how when people are upset about something, they might want to do something to try and change it? Well, a group of people in Seattle felt really upset about the way the police were treating black people, and they wanted to do something to try and make a difference.
So, they decided to set up a little area in a part of the city called Capitol Hill, where they could all live and work together and show everyone what they believed in. They called it the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest, or CHOP for short.
The people who set up CHOP wanted to create a place where everyone felt safe and heard, and they wanted to show that there are ways to solve problems without using violence. They set up tents and brought in food and water, and they had people there to help keep everything organized and running smoothly.
Lots of people came to CHOP to show their support, and there were also some people who didn't like what was going on there. The police were also worried about what might happen, so they were keeping an eye on things from outside of CHOP.
Eventually, after about a month, the people who set up CHOP decided to leave and dismantle everything. They said that they felt like they had made a difference and they hoped that people would continue to work towards a better future for everyone.
So, that's what CHOP was all about - people working together to try and make a positive change in the world. It might seem complicated, but it all comes down to people wanting to do good things and help each other out.
