Nuclear power is a type of energy we get from a process called nuclear fission. Inside certain types of atoms there is a lot of energy stored up. We can use this energy by splitting the atoms apart in a special machine called a reactor.
When the atoms split apart in the reactor, they release energy in the form of heat. This heat can be used to boil water which creates steam. The steam then turns a turbine, which is like a spinning wheel, and the turbine is connected to an electric generator. This creates an electric current that can be used to power our homes and businesses.
