Caramel is a yummy treat that you might have eaten before. It is made from sugar and butter or cream.
First, grown-ups put sugar in a pan and heat it up. The sugar gets very hot and starts to turn into a pretty brown color. That's when they add some butter or cream, which makes the caramel all smooth and creamy.
Once the caramel is all mixed up and creamy, the grown-ups can put it on top of things like ice cream or dip apples in it for a tasty snack.
But you have to be careful with caramel because it is very hot and can burn you if you touch it before it cools down. So always ask a grown-up for help when you want caramel.
