ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Carbon–hydrogen bond

When you look at a molecule, you'll see lots of little particles that stick together. These particles are called atoms. Carbon and hydrogen are two kinds of atoms that can stick together to form what we call a carbon-hydrogen bond.

Think of it like when you put two puzzle pieces together. The carbon is one puzzle piece, and the hydrogen is another. When you put them together, they form a stronger bond than if they were separate. This bond is called a carbon-hydrogen bond.

Now, why is this bond important? Well, lots of things in our world are made up of molecules that have carbon-hydrogen bonds. For example, the gas you put in your car has lots of carbon-hydrogen bonds. So does the plastic in your toys and the fats in your food.

So, the bottom line is: carbon-hydrogen bonds are when carbon and hydrogen atoms stick together to form a strong bond. And this bond is important because it's found in lots of things around us!
