Carbon-based life

Carbon-based life includes all animals, plants, and other living organisms on Earth. Carbon is an important element that helps make up the structure of all living organisms. Living organisms need carbon because it helps them to grow and survive. Carbon helps to form molecules, like proteins and carbohydrates, that living things need to stay alive. The carbon in living things also helps to store energy and release energy when needed. So, every living organism needs carbon to live.
