ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cell biology

Cell biology is the study of cells, which are the building blocks of all living things. Cells are tiny and can be seen only with a microscope. Inside each cell are DNA molecules, which hold the instructions that tell our bodies how to work. Cells can be tiny, like bacteria, or big, like brain cells. Cells work together to form tissues, organs and systems that make up our bodies. There are different kinds of cells, like skin cells, blood cells, and nerve cells, which each have different jobs. For example, blood cells help to carry oxygen and nutrients to different parts of the body, while skin cells help protect us from germs. Cell biology studies how cells work and how they interact with each other to keep us healthy.
