ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Cascade storage system

Okay kiddo, so do you know what a cascade is? It’s like a waterfall, right? Water falls from one level to another. That is exactly how a cascade storage system works, but instead of water, this system stores something else.

Imagine you have some shelves in your room. You put things on the top shelf, and when that shelf gets full, you move the extra things to the second shelf, and then the third shelf, and so on. One thing you might have noticed is that the items on the higher shelves can be a little hard to reach. That's what cascade storage solves - it helps you get things easier and faster.

Now let me explain how a cascade storage system works. A cascade storage system is made up of many compartments, just like the shelves in your room. Each compartment has a certain amount of space that’s enough to store something, like a toy. When one compartment gets full, the extra things are automatically moved down to the next available compartment.

The process of moving the extra things down is just like a waterfall. Each compartment has a tiny opening at the bottom just like waterfalls have tiny openings between the levels. When a compartment gets full, the extra toys automatically flow out of the tiny opening and into the compartment below it.

This system is used in many places where they need to store a lot of things in a small space. For example, some factories use cascade storage to store things like light bulbs, tiny parts, screws, nuts, and bolts. Because they use this system, they can store more things in less space. That means more room for other stuff!

That's the cascade storage system, kiddo. Do you have any questions?
