Cascadia (independence movement)

Cascadia is an independence movement for a region in the northwest United States and Canada. Its supporters want to form a new, independent nation or state made up of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia, and other areas. They believe that this new state or nation should have its own government and laws that better represent the interests of the people who live in the region. They also want to be able to protect the environment and manage resources in a more sustainable way. People who support Cascadia want to create a place that is better connected economically and culturally than the current U.S. and Canadian systems.
