Catecholamines

Catecholamines are chemicals that help your body do different things. They are made in a small thingy in your body called the adrenal gland which is near the top of your kidneys. These chemicals are also sometimes called hormones.

Catecholamines can do a lot of things, but some of the most important ones are:

- Make your heart beat faster and stronger so that your body can get more oxygen to your muscles when you need to run or do something hard.

- help your body to use sugar and fat for energy so that you can have lots of energy when you need it.

- help your body respond to stress and "fight or flight" situations.

- make you feel happy and excited in your brain by activating certain areas of your brain.

So, basically catecholamines are like special chemicals that help your body do lots of different things, and they are made in a little thingy called the adrenal gland.
