ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Category of sets

A category of sets is like a big toy box filled with lots of different toys. Each toy is like a set, which is a group of things that are similar in some way.

The category of sets also has some rules that we need to follow when we play with the toys. For example, we can make a connection between some of the toys (sets) using a special kind of string, called a morphism. A morphism is like a special way of looking at the toys that helps us understand how they are related.

We can also combine different morphisms and toys (sets) in different ways, just like how we can build different things with our toy blocks.

The category of sets helps us organize and compare all the different sets out there, just like how we organize our toys in our toy box. It also helps us see the relationships between them and how they fit together.
