Catholic lay organisations

Okay, so you know how there are adults called Catholics who believe in God and Jesus and go to church to worship and pray? Well, sometimes these Catholics want to come together and do some good things for their community, like helping people who are sick or poor, or taking care of the environment.

But they don’t always want to do it just on their own - it’s more fun and helpful to work together with other Catholics who also care about these good things. So they form a group called a lay organization, which means they’re not priests or nuns, just regular people who are part of the Catholic church.

These lay organizations might have a special name, like the Knights of Columbus or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and they have their own meetings and leaders who help them organize their good deeds.

The cool thing is that even though they’re not priests or nuns, the work they do still helps the Catholic church be more like Jesus, who was always helping people and being nice to them. Plus, it’s a way for Catholics to make new friends and feel like they’re doing something important together.
