ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Catholic particular churches

Catholic particular churches are groups of people who believe in Jesus and follow the teachings of the Catholic Church, but they have their own specific customs and rituals. Think of them as different "flavors" of Catholicism.

These particular churches are able to have their own unique practices, but they still follow the overall beliefs and leadership of the Pope in Rome. So it's like they're all part of a big family, but each branch has its own way of doing things.

For example, the Roman Catholic Church is the largest particular church and is the one most people think of when they hear "Catholic." But there are also other particular churches within the Catholic Church, such as the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church or the Maronite Church.

Even though they have different names and practices, they are all still Catholic, and they all believe in the same things. It's kind of like how you and your friends may have different favorite colors or foods, but you're still all friends who like to play together.
