Cause célèbre

A cause célèbre is an issue or event that people feel very strongly about and talk a lot about. It is usually a political, social, or moral topic that causes a lot of controversy and spurs debate. People who care about the cause will often do things like protesting in the streets, signing petitions, and writing articles to get their message out. People may also donate money or volunteer their time to help the cause.
