Missing White Woman Syndrome is something that happens when people pay a lot more attention to a news story or news coverage of a missing white person (typically woman). Usually, news outlets and reporters focus especially heavily on missing white women, but will not cover stories of missing people of color or other genders as much. This can be because news media tend to focus their attention on stories featuring white people more than stories involving people of color. The coverage can also be biased because people's sympathies are more easily stirred when it comes to the suffering of a white woman.
