Cell communication (biology)

Cells talk to each other just like how we talk to our friends using phones or messages. But instead of phones, cells use tiny things called molecules to communicate with each other.

These tiny molecules act as messages that can tell other cells to either start doing something or to stop. For example, when you get a cut, your body sends special molecules to the area where the cut is, telling your cells to start making a scab to heal the wound.

These messages can travel through our bodies in many different ways, like in our blood or in the air we breathe. That’s why when we catch a cold, we can easily spread it to others because the molecules that cause the cold are floating in the air or in our saliva.

In basic terms, cell communication is how cells talk to each other using tiny molecules to send messages about what needs to happen in the body.
