Celtic polytheism was the religion of the ancient Celts, a group of people who more than two thousand years ago lived in parts of Europe, like Ireland and Scotland. Celtic polytheism was like other types of polytheism, where people believed in many different gods and goddesses, like the gods and goddesses of the sea or sky, who each had different powers or jobs. People believed that gods and goddesses controlled things like the wind, fire, and rain, and that these gods and goddesses interacted with humans and helped guide them. People would make offerings to the gods and goddesses, like food or gifts, to ask for help or show respect.
