Cenote

A cenote is a natural hole in the ground that exposes water underground. They are usually found in limestone areas, like in Mexico and other parts of Central America. Cenotes are filled with water and often have beautiful formations like stalactites and stalagmites. People often go swimming in them and explore the depths. These cenotes give us special access to underground lakes, rivers and caves that would otherwise not be accessible. They also play a role in preserving the water supply in some areas.
