Central moments are a way of measuring how spread out a group of numbers is. To calculate a central moment, you take each number in the group, subtract the average of the group, and calculate the average of all of those numbers multiplied together. This gives you a number that tells you how spread out the group is. For example, if all of the numbers in the group are close to the average, the central moment will be close to 0. If the numbers are further away from the average, the central moment will be higher.
