ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Standardized moment

Standardized moments are ways of measuring the shape of a data set. They turn the data into a set of numbers, which can then be compared with other data sets. Think of it like measuring a box. You can use the same ruler to measure the length, width, and height of different boxes, so you can compare them. Standardized moments do the same for data - they give each set a set of numbers that can be compared.
