Okay kiddo, so a long time ago when some people from Britain had a whole bunch of money, they used it to buy other people from places like Africa and make them work for them without paying them. This was called slavery, and it was a really bad thing that hurt a lot of people.
But even though slavery ended a really long time ago, its effects are still felt today. That's why some people made a special place called the Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slave-Ownership. They study things like how slave owners kept their money and how their families and communities benefitted from the money that was made from slavery.
By studying these things, they hope to learn more about how slavery has affected our world today and make it better for everyone, no matter what their race or background is.
