Century

A century is a really long time - it's like counting from 1 to 100! It takes 100 years to make a century. For example, the 21st century started in the year 2001 and will end in the year 2100. It's like a big container of time that we use to group events or things that happen over a really long period. So, if someone asks you when your great-grandpa was born and you say "in the 19th century" that means it was between the years 1801 and 1900. It's a way to make it easier to talk about things that happened a long time ago or things that are going to happen far in the future.
