Châteauesque

Châteauesque is a fancy style of building that looks like a castle from a long, long time ago. It's called "châteauesque" because it's inspired by the big, fancy castles in France called "châteaus."

These buildings usually have lots of details and decorations like fancy columns, turrets, balconies, and big windows. They're really big and grand-looking, like they were made for important people.

People started building châteauesque buildings a long time ago, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were especially popular in America for big, fancy houses and public buildings like libraries or government buildings.

Even though they're really elaborate and look like they could be from a fairy tale, châteauesque buildings are actually based on real history and architecture. They're kind of like a grown-up version of a play castle that you might have in your backyard - just much, much bigger and fancier!
