ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chain boat

A chain boat is like a floating machine that moves through the water by using a big chain like a treadmill. Imagine a big, long metal chain that is attached to a motor on one end and to the front of the boat on the other end in the water.

The motor makes the chain move, and the boat moves forward as the chain does. This method of propulsion is very different from the more common way of using a motor or wind to push a boat.

This chain boat can go up or down a river, and the chain goes through a metal tube to keep it in place while also protecting it from the water. The boat can carry people or things, and it's usually used to transport cargo on rivers.

So, think of it as a giant, floating treadmill that moves the boat forward using a chain and a motor!
