Chariton the Confessor

Okay kiddo, let's talk about Chariton the Confessor. Chariton was a man who lived a really long time ago, in a place called the Byzantine Empire. He was a monk, which means he lived in a special place called a monastery and spent his days praying and studying religious books.

Now, Chariton lived during a time when the people who ran the empire didn't like Christians very much. They wanted everyone to worship different gods and goddesses, but Chariton and his friends believed in Jesus. They refused to stop worshiping Jesus, even though it was dangerous for them.

One day, the emperor found out about Chariton and his friends, and he didn't like it. So he sent some soldiers to the monastery where Chariton lived to arrest him and the other monks. The soldiers were really mean and tried to force Chariton and his friends to stop worshiping Jesus. But Chariton and his friends refused, even though they knew they could be killed for it.

So the soldiers took Chariton and the other monks to prison. But even there, they didn't stop praying and worshiping Jesus. They knew it was the right thing to do, even if it was hard.

Eventually, after a really long time, the emperor died and a new emperor came to power who was more tolerant of Christians. Chariton and his friends were released from prison and could worship Jesus freely once again.

But even though it was hard for Chariton and his friends, they never gave up on what they believed in. They were brave and strong, and they are remembered as heroes for standing up for what they knew was right.
