Cheap talk

Cheap talk is like when someone promises to do something, but they don't really mean it. It's like when you say you'll clean your room, but you don't actually plan on doing it. This is called "cheap talk" because it doesn't cost anything to say you'll do something, but it doesn't mean you really will. Adults might also use cheap talk when they try to convince someone to do something, but they don't really have any good reasons to back up their argument. So, just like you can't always trust a kid who promises to clean their room but never does, you can't always trust someone who uses cheap talk to try and persuade you.
