Check engine light

The check engine light is a little light that shows up on your car's dashboard. It's like a small warning sign that tells you something may be wrong with your car.

Every car has a computer inside of it called an onboard diagnostics system, or OBD for short. This computer constantly monitors all the different parts of your car to make sure everything is working properly.

If the computer notices something isn't working the way it should be, it will turn on the check engine light. This can happen for lots of different reasons, like if there's a problem with the engine, the emissions system, or even the gas cap.

When the check engine light comes on, it’s important to take your car to a mechanic as soon as possible. They will use a special device to read the computer's diagnostic codes and figure out what's causing the problem.

Sometimes, the problem can be minor and easy to fix, like tightening the gas cap. Other times, it may be more serious and require a more extensive repair.

But either way, it’s important to address the issue and get it fixed quickly in order to prevent further damage to your car and ensure it's running efficiently and safely.
