ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tell-tale (automotive)

Okay kiddo, so when you're driving a car, there are a lot of things you need to pay attention to. One of the things that's really important is the engine temperature. If the engine gets too hot, it can cause big problems and even damage the car.

That's where a tell-tale comes in. A tell-tale is a little light or symbol on your car's dashboard that tells you if there's a problem with something important, like the engine or the brake system.

Let's say your car's engine is getting too hot. Usually, a tell-tale with a picture of a thermometer will light up on the dashboard. That's the car's way of "telling" you that something is wrong and you need to take care of it.

The tell-tale is really important because it helps you know what's going on with your car, even if you're not a mechanic. It's kind of like a little helper that makes sure you're driving safely and taking care of your car. Pretty cool, huh?
