Checkerboard

A checkerboard is like a special kind of board that is usually used to play a game called checkers. It has squares that are all the same size and they alternate between two different colors, usually black and white. It looks kind of like a big chessboard, but instead of having different pieces with different powers, in checkers, you play with little round pieces that can only move in certain ways.

When you play checkers on a checkerboard, you move your pieces diagonally across the board. You can only move onto the dark squares, and your opponent's pieces can only move onto the light squares. The goal is to use your pieces to jump over your opponent's pieces and capture them, until you have captured all of your opponent's pieces or blocked them in so they can't move anymore.

Even if you're not playing checkers, a checkerboard can be a fun decoration or pattern to look at because of its neat geometric design. You can even make one yourself by drawing squares on a piece of paper or fabric and coloring them in alternating colors!
