ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chemical imaging

Chemical Imaging is like taking a picture of a sample (like a plant leaf for example) to see if it has any special attributes that can't be seen with the naked eye. Instead of taking a regular picture of it, scientists use special instruments to measure different chemicals that might be present in the sample, like proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other compounds. By measuring the amounts of different chemicals in the sample, the scientists can create a "picture" of the sample, giving them a better idea of what the sample is made up of.
