Chemoprophylaxis

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes we get sick and have to take medicine to get better? Well, chemoprophylaxis is a fancy word that means taking medicine to prevent getting sick in the first place!

Let's say you're going on a trip to a place where there are lots of mosquitoes that can carry a disease like malaria. Your doctor might suggest you take some medicine before you go to prevent getting infected. That's called chemoprophylaxis.

It's like wearing a raincoat when it's raining outside to make sure you don't get wet. Chemoprophylaxis is a way to protect yourself from getting sick before it happens.
