ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Primary prevention

Primary prevention is like wearing a raincoat before it starts raining. When we know something bad might happen, we try to stop it from happening in the first place.

For example, let's say we know that it's not good for our teeth to eat too much candy. One way to prevent cavities is to not eat a lot of candy in the first place. This is called primary prevention.

Another example is washing your hands to prevent getting sick. If we make sure to wash our hands often with soap and water, we can stop germs from getting inside our bodies and making us sick.

Primary prevention is all about stopping something bad from happening before it even starts. By being careful and preventing problems before they start, we can avoid many future problems and stay healthy and safe.
