New urbanism is an idea that says our cities should be designed in a way that encourages people to be more active and get to know their neighbors. It focuses on creating walkable cities with more parks and green spaces, smaller roads so cars move more slowly, and lots of places for people to shop and eat close to home. To put it simply, new urbanism tries to create cities where cars are less important, and people are closer to nature and one another.
