Chimurenga

Chimurenga is a word from the Shona people of Zimbabwe that means "struggle" or "revolution." Imagine that you really want to change something in your community, like making sure everyone has enough food to eat. You might need to fight and work really hard to make that happen. That fight and hard work is what we call Chimurenga!

In Zimbabwe, Chimurenga was a time when people worked together to fight for their rights and independence from colonial rule. It was a long and difficult struggle that lasted for many years. People had to work together, help each other, and be very brave in order to make things better for themselves and their families.

Today, Chimurenga is celebrated as a time when Zimbabweans came together to stand up for what they believed in and fight for their freedom. It reminds us that when we care about something and work together, we can make big changes happen.
