ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chopine

A chopine is like a fancy shoe that was worn a very, very long time ago. It was really tall, like as tall as a grown-up's knee, and had a very high heel. People would wear it in Europe during a time called the Renaissance, which was when people liked to dress up and be fancy. The chopine made the person who wore it look taller and more important. However, it was difficult to walk in and people needed someone to help them walk so that they wouldn't fall over. Nowadays, people don't wear chopines anymore because they are not practical for everyday use, but they are sometimes used in plays and movies to make people look like they are from the Renaissance time.
