ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Choquet game

Have you heard of the Choquet game? It's a game that helps us understand how we make choices when there are many options available.

Imagine you have a big box of candies with different flavors like chocolate, strawberry, and lemon. You only have enough money to buy three candies, so you have to choose which ones you want.

In the Choquet game, you are given a set of rules that help you decide which candies you want to buy based on their flavors and prices. These rules are called "capacity" and they are like a map that helps you navigate the candy box.

For example, your capacity rule could be that you prefer candies with chocolate flavor and lower prices. This means that you will choose the chocolate candies first and then pick the ones that are cheaper.

Another person might have a different capacity rule, like they prefer candies with strawberry flavor and higher prices. This means that they will choose the strawberry candies first and then pick the ones that are more expensive.

The Choquet game teaches us that everyone has their own way of making choices based on their preferences and priorities. It also shows us that it's important to think about our capacity rules when we make choices so that we end up with the candies (or choices) that we really want.
