ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Christian domestic discipline

Christian domestic discipline is a type of relationship where one person (usually a man) is seen as the head of the household and has the authority to discipline their partner (usually a woman) using physical punishment.

It is based on the idea that the Bible says a husband should be the head of his household and that wives should submit to their husbands. Christian domestic discipline takes this submission to a more extreme level, where the husband is seen as having complete control over the wife's behavior and the right to physically punish her if she disobeys or disrespects him.

It's kind of like how parents might punish their children if they misbehave, but instead of the dad punishing the kids, it's the husband punishing his wife. The punishments can range from light spanking to more severe physical punishment, and the idea behind it is that it's for the wife's own good and to help her be a better Christian.

However, many people see Christian domestic discipline as abusive and harmful, and it is not supported by mainstream Christian teachings. It is important to remember that in any relationship, all parties should feel safe, respected, and valued, and that physical punishment and control are not healthy or acceptable ways to interact with a partner.
