Hello there! Today we're going to talk about something called Christian mysticism in ancient Africa. It's a fancy way of saying that some people who lived a long time ago in Africa believed in God in a special way.
You know how you can talk to your friends and family and they can talk back to you? Well, some people believed that they could talk to God in a special way too. They would pray and meditate and try to understand God's messages to them.
These people believed that God was all around them, in nature, in other people, and even inside themselves. They tried to feel close to Him by being kind to others and by living simple lives. It was like they were trying to be like Jesus, who was a very important person to them.
Sometimes these people had visions or dreams that they believed came from God. They would write down what they saw or felt, and sometimes other people would read their writings to learn more about how to be close to God too.
People who believed in mysticism sometimes lived together in communities or groups, like monasteries or convents. They would help each other understand God's messages and pray together.
Even though this happened a long time ago in Africa, some people still practice Christian mysticism today. They believe that even though we can't always see or touch God, He is always with us and loves us very much.
