ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Chu (state)

Chu was a place long ago in China where people used to live. It was like a big city, but it was ruled by a group of people called a state. Just like a big family with rules, the state had their own rules that everyone in Chu had to follow. They had their own leader, who was like a boss, and a group of people who helped him make decisions.

People who lived in Chu had different jobs, just like we do now. Some people were farmers, some were craftsmen, and some were soldiers who protected the city from enemies. They all had to work together to make sure their city was safe and everyone had what they needed.

Just like any family or group, there were good times and bad times in Chu. Sometimes they had so much food and supplies that they could share with other cities. But other times, they had to fight in wars to keep their city safe. It was hard work, but everyone in Chu pulled together to make sure they were strong and successful. Eventually, Chu blended into another state and became a part of China.
