Cipher runes

Hey kiddo, have you ever heard of cipher runes? They're kind of like a secret code that people used to use a long time ago to keep their messages safe from anyone who might try to read them.

You know how sometimes you might write something down and you don't want anyone else to read it? Well, back in the olden days, people used to write in cipher runes to keep their messages secret.

The way it worked was that each letter of the alphabet was replaced by a different symbol. So instead of writing "A" for example, you might draw a little picture of an apple instead. That way, if someone found your message, they wouldn't be able to read it unless they knew what the symbols meant.

And there were lots of different types of cipher runes too! Some were based on the symbols used in other ancient languages, like the runes that the Vikings used to use. Others were created specifically for secret societies or groups.

But today, cipher runes aren't used as much anymore because we have other ways of keeping our messages safe, like encryption. But it's still really cool to learn about how people used to keep their secrets safe in the olden days!
