Circumpolar peoples

Circumpolar peoples are groups of people who live in the area that is located around the North Pole, also known as the Arctic Circle. Just like how you have a circle on your clock that goes around and around, the Arctic Circle is a circle that goes around the very top part of our planet.

These people have lived in this area for thousands of years and have adapted to living in a very cold and harsh environment. They have developed unique ways of living, such as building igloos, using sled dogs for transportation, and wearing special kinds of clothes to keep them warm.

Circumpolar peoples are made up of different groups, such as Inuit in Canada and Greenland, Sami in Scandinavia, and Yupik in Alaska. Even though they live in different parts of the world, they share many similarities in their way of life, beliefs, and traditions.

These people have a strong connection to the land and sea that surrounds them, and they depend on hunting and fishing to survive. They have also developed a deep understanding of the natural world and respect it deeply.

In recent times, these communities have faced many challenges such as climate change, pollution, and colonization that have affected their way of life. However, they continue to hold on to their unique culture, to adapt to changing times, and to fight for their rights to protect their lands and resources.
