ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Citation analysis

Citation analysis is a way to measure the impact of a piece of writing, like a book, article, or scientific paper. It looks at how often the piece of writing is mentioned or referenced by other sources. For example, if a book is often cited in other books or articles, it means that it is seen as an important or influential work. By counting how many times a work is cited, it is easier to figure out which ones are more impactful.
