Civil rights movement in popular culture

The Civil Rights Movement was a period of time in the United States when people were trying to make sure African Americans had the same rights as white people. People in the movement used protest, marches and other peaceful forms of action to help bring attention to the situation and make changes. During this time period, popular culture, like movies, television shows, books, and songs, talked about the movement and the ideas behind it. People used popular culture to spread messages about justice, freedom, and equality for all people. The Civil Rights Movement changed the way people thought about race and helped to move the country towards a more equal society.
