The Clamshell Alliance was a protest group formed in 1977 to oppose the construction of a nuclear power plant in Seabrook, New Hampshire. The members of the Clamshell Alliance believed that nuclear power was dangerous and wanted to stop the nuclear plant from being built. They held protests and rallies, where they peacefully stood in front of the construction site. They also went on hunger strikes and chained themselves to the construction equipment. The Clamshell Alliance's efforts were successful, and the Seabrook nuclear power plant was never built.
