Clarence King

Clarence King was a scientist, explorer, and writer who lived in the 1800s. He explored the American West and wrote a book about his travels called Mountaineering in the Sierra Nevada. He also did important work in geology, figuring out how the rocks formed in the West and discovering minerals like diamond and silver in them. His discoveries helped people use the land to build railroads, mines, and cities.
