A classical compound is a type of chemical compound made of two or more different elements held together by chemical bonds. For example, water is a classical compound made out of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. The atoms are held together by special forces called bonds, which are like special glue that keeps the atoms stuck together. Without these bonds, the atoms would just float away. Because classical compounds can have different combinations of elements, they can have different physical and chemical properties, like boiling point or smell.
