ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Claude Shannon

Claude Shannon was an American mathematician and engineer who lived in the 20th century. He is sometimes called the "father of information theory" because he used mathematics and numbers to explain how we can store, share, and use information. Shannon studied how information can be organized in ways that make it easier to understand. He also figured out how to turn information into a code that computers can understand. Shannon's ideas changed the way we think about information, which changed the way we use computers today.
